The City School District of 青青草视频 is pleased to announce that Karleen Brookshire (left) and Shanell Brown (right) have been selected to serve as assistant academy principals at 青青草视频 High School!

Brookshire began her new role Monday and is serving in Leadership Academy alongside Academy Principal Michaela Miranda. She replaces Alexandra LaCoss.

Born and raised in 青青草视频, Brookshire is a proud graduate of 青青草视频 High and is excited to give back to the community that helped her build a strong foundation for a career in education.

"I am deeply honored and thrilled to return to my alma mater," she said. "It is a profound privilege to utilize my skills and experiences to help guide and empower the children from my community to reach their fullest potential."

Brookshire started in the district as a social worker at Tony Clement Center for Education and most recently served as a social worker at North 青青草视频 Middle School.

She earned her bachelor's in sociology and her master's in social welfare at the University at 青青草视频. Additionally, Brookshire completed U青青草视频's Advanced Graduate School Building Leadership Program.

Brown also began her new role Monday, joining Citizenship Academy alongside Academy Principal Emma Steckman.

Starting in the 青青草视频 City School District as an office support professional at William S. Hackett Middle School, Brown has served in various roles in the school district over the years, including teaching in the 青青草视频 High Night School Program and serving as a behavioral specialist at Arbor Hill Elementary School. Most recently, she worked as an assistant principal in the Schenectady City School District.

Brown earned a bachelor's in business administration from Russell Sage College as well as a master's of education in professional school counseling from Sage. She also holds a Certificate of Advanced Study in School District Leadership and a Certificate of Advanced Study in School Building Leadership from The College of Saint Rose.

Also born and raised in 青青草视频 and a graduate of 青青草视频 High, Brown is thrilled to serve in her new role.

"It's an honor to support students, utilizing my skill set, to ensure they have access to what is essential to their success in and out of the classroom."

Current Citizenship Assistant Principal Kenneth Klein will shift to Innovation Academy to replace Marilyn Jones-Oliver, Ed.D., who served as the assistant principal there until transferring earlier this year to serve as the assistant principal at Delaware Community School.

Please join us in welcoming Brookshire and Brown to the 青青草视频 High community!
