On Wednesday, 24 students from Art Erbe's Construction Technology II and Construction Technology III classes enjoyed a fascinating, hands-on at Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers Local Union #2 Training Hall!
Students interacted with professional masons, learning about work and apprenticeship opportunities in our local community, including a summer program available for juniors and seniors interested in exploring a career in masonry.
After a brief presentation, students divided into small groups, put on safety equipment and worked alongside masons, learning techniques for properly mixing and applying mortar with trowels while laying both brick and cement blocks.
Our Falcons thoroughly enjoyed their visit, which opened their eyes to a promising pathway towards future employment in construction. We extend our gratitude to Joleen Hanlon from Junior Achievement and Kevin Potter from Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers Local Union for making this immersive learning experience possible!
